Magnesium enriched cheese “Veendammer” launch

Saturday September 30th, Nedmag launched an innovative cheese “Veendammer” in cooperation with cheese farmer Slob located in Giessenburg. This healthy cheese, enriched with magnesium and reduced in salt, is the first product release under Nedmag’s new Pure Health & Earth brand.

The name “Veendammer” refers to the origin of the extremely pure magnesium salt, from the ancient Zechstein sea, which lies at a depth of approximately 1600 meters in the ground beneath Veendam.

During Nedmag’s open house on Saturday, September 30, the “Veendammer” cheese was launched under our new brand Pure Health & Earth. Veendammer is a full-fat 50+ cheese enriched with magnesium. The cheese was created through an intensive collaboration between cheese farmer Slob from Giessenburg and Nedmag.

What makes the Veendammer unique is that regular table salt in the recipe has been partially replaced with magnesium salt.  Eating Veendammer cheese instead of regular cheese will therefore reduce your sodium intake, which, if consumed at high levels, can be harmful, especially to the heart and kidneys.

Magnesium, on the other hand, has a positive effect on the health of the human body. Magnesium contributes, among other things, to the maintenance of strong bones and strong muscles. The cheese contains 120 mg magnesium per 100 grams of cheese, which contributes to 32% of the recommended daily magnesium intake.

The cheese is available in the shop of the producer Slob in Giessenburg and at Zechsal in Veendam. The cheese can also be ordered online via the Zechsal webshop.
