Nedmag B.V. has applied for a new environmental permit for its facility at Billitonweg 1 in Veendam. The facility is situated on the industrial estate on the eastern side of Veendam, between the railway line and the A.G. Wildervanck Canal.

Important to note: Nedmag is not planning to expand its operations or increase the environmental impact beyond what is already permitted. The application does not change the production volume or the current level of environmental impact.

The reason for this new application is that multiple separate permits and approvals are currently in place, some of which are outdated. The main permit dates back to 2008. This has led to a fragmented and unclear permit situation. Therefore, Nedmag and the competent authority, the Province of Groningen, have agreed that one new, clear permit is preferable.

In the application, Nedmag requests emission standards for water and air, as explained in the relevant sections of the application. For certain soil-related activities, Nedmag is requesting tailored agreements.

Nedmag operates under an environmental management system certified according to the international ISO 14001 standard. The activities and environmental impact described in this application are included in that system. Nedmag is applying for the new permit to be granted for an indefinite period.
